For your consideration we are offering for sale this Circa 1933 Parker Standard Vacumatic Gray Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in restored condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the trim, arrow clip, cap banding and 14K 2-Tone NIB. Buffed and Polished the barrel, cap and striped jewels to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs. The cap has the Arrow Feather clip and the 3 white gold plate cap bands. The arrow clip does display minimal wear. The cap bands display minimal wear as well, they are in excellent condition. The top and bottom jewels carry the same striped design as the barrel and cap and look great. The section also carries through the striped design of the overall design of the pen. The barrel imprint is faint but legible, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT with no date or code". The significance of no date code puts this manufacture date range from 1933 to roughly August 1934, which some people in the industry determine this to be a "Zero Generation" fountain pen.
The transparency of the barrel is fantastic; however, there is ambering. The cap fits securely to the barrel and the jeweled blind cap also securely fits. There are no monograms on the barrel.
The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 7 presses and it will fill to nearly 7/8 full. Has the Lockdown filling unit and the filling mechanism works smooth and flawlessly, which is correct for this time of the Vacumatic.
This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Zero/1st Generation Standard Fountain Pen that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted. The 14K Parker 2-Tone NIB has a medium to broad point measuring roughly .89mm when measured with digital calipers. The NIB has the Golden two-tone arrow NIB; some the platinum plating on the shoulder and base of the NIB has worn away - I would say roughly 85% of the Platinum plating is still intact.
When writing a sample the NIB writes with a medium line and very smoothly. The writing sample provided, the thinnest line measures at a medium .64mm stroke measured with digital calipers, there is little to no flex in this NIB. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
Finding these early Parker Vacumatic fountain pens from this 1933-1934 era are harder and harder to find. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection that I would grade as Excellent.
